Guatemala Xinabajul Peña Blanca
Cupping Notes

The dry fragrance had a sweet overlay of caramel crumble, subtle bittering undertones, and a baking spice accent. The wet grounds offered glimpses of sweet brown sugars, cinnamon sauce, and almond cake. At City+, notes of torched sugar and caramel laid out a very nice base flavor in the cup. Juicy mouthfeel brought out a delicious apple note, and also helped define a malic-type acidic impression (think apple or pear) that was clean, and bright. The cup aroma was accented by a spiced cinnamon hint that connected to a spiced apple sauce note in the aftertaste. Our Full City roast was thick-bodied in the brew, and carried well-balanced flavor profiles that permeated with roast tone and sweetness, like dark cacao bar with a ribbon of caramel, and silky dark chocolate sauce. Peña Blanca is a top espresso pick, silky-smooth in texture, with syrupy dark chocolate, creamy caramel sweets, and a bittering orange peel flavor that brings a nice tang to the profile.
